Peer Support

“A sad soul can be just as lethal as a germ.” – John Steinbeck

Peer Responder Application

The Peer Responder application was built with the intention of providing an electronic solution for emergency services departments to record and track their individual peer programs, as well as provide unidentified statistics that conclusions regarding the services can be drawn from, and also including functionality for other custom functions – for example, tracking leave.

The solution has been built around multiple levels of access, with users allocated to different levels. This allows clients to restrict different groups of employees to only see and submit their own reports, see and submit reports for themselves and their team, or have administrative access. Ultimately, user defined security permissions determine the view and access to components of the software as required.

Key Features

Each PEER has access to a devise ready application using iPhone, Android, laptop, desktop or any devise with internet access.

Easy to use, requiring minimal training with simple functions, actions and referral capabilities. Designed to be touch screen friendly.

Record all PEER interactions which are automatically included for reporting, both on an individual and management basis.

Can be used for both identified and anonymous recording and reporting.

Track PEER Training, record privacy certification, maintain all PEER contacts and leave periods.

User can set up reminders, view in a calendar, create PEER activities and close off when completed. Handoffs and referrals done within the application.

Peer Responder is built around the ability for the information submitted to provide anonymity to the member being reported on. De-identified Data is information from a record which has been stripped of all ‘direct identifier’ – blocking all information that could be used to determine the person in question.

This is an essential part of gaining user’s trust. Members of society who want to seek help after an incident or event rarely wish to have their details recorded, and often stray from seeking help because of this matter. Peer Responder provides the confidentially that your employees need, however, will still allow you to pull and view de-identified statistics, highlighting trends and patterns within your organization.

After consulting, surveying, and meeting with members of these teams, it became apparent that the processes used to record information gathered regarding the health and help needed towards staff was outdated- either built on dated software or were still using paper-based systems. It is essential that we track, support and improve the mental health of those who are put in dangerous positions within society.

The focus on physical health should not drown out the importance of mental health, as they have an equal part to play in improving overall wellbeing of our EMS Employees and Volunteers.
